World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its base stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a sign of the item's condition and its quality. The level of the item can be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On your PC, you can view the item level using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its level. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and sockets have gems that increase the value of the item overall. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, since the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of them in various ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by putting a name on them.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats or reroll affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for Best item upgrader comparison would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Best item upgrade Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Additionally some items, such as the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
