Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaner uk in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
