World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item level upgrade's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players make stronger versions of the equipment that require fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player can have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade items increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure what will be improved after an update.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the possibility of failure. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is advanced in level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrade an item the original item is replaced by the new item. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage because it can make the item more expensive if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with an initial level and a completely different set of extra bonuses. This is useful for some items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can use up a lot of resources.

Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. If an item level upgrade fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases.
