Side-by-Side

This is the most popular double pushchair. It can usually seat two children side by side. They're generally bigger than single pushchairs. This can make them less maneuverable on paths. It is also difficult to navigate up and down kerbs when the car seat is in place. The extra size makes them easier to maneuver through doorways and also more evenly distributed, so it is easier for you to carry them on your back.

They can be used as a twin pram pushchair from birth, and many models will take both a carrycot and 2 car seats. Some models can be converted to one-mode with a basket on the side (like the Cybex Venus).

Tandem

If you plan to have twins, you'll need a tandem pushchair. This allows each child to sit and see each other. They are perfect for visiting the zoo since the kids can look at the animals together. They're also ideal for parents who must keep one eye on their toddler and the other eye on their infant because they can see both simultaneously.

Some tandem pushchairs provide ultra flexibility as they can convert back to single mode.
