Levers can have a variety of effects depending on the way forces are applied. A class 2 lever for instance is prone to rotating in the opposite direction when the effort force is applied. The forces created by pushing on the handle of a front door will produce rotational effects that are similar to these.

However, levers don't create energy. They simply increase the force you exert by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a greater amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and move large quantities of cargo. This is also the principle behind the levers that are found in many everyday tools, such as crowbars and fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brake of your car.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also referred to as upvc door handles, feature levers on both sides to operate the multipoint locks. They come in a variety of designs and finishes, and are suitable for a variety of materials, including UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for both the outside and the interior doors, with spindles and screws included. They are also available in handed and unhanded versions for different types of users.

These locks can be used to replace an existing doors made of upvc. They are usually operated by lifting the levers, which throw out all of the multipoint locks before turning the key to close / unlock. They are more secure compared to traditional lever door handles as the locking operation is only accessible from the inside with an open key, unless the door is deadlocked.

Lever latches are by far the most simple type of door handles. The lever is pushed down to open a latch inside the door, which can be locked using a key. Some lever privacy handles operate on the same principle but with a second snib, similar to a doorknob.

A snib button can be very beneficial, especially in homes where it's essential to maintain privacy or security. You can use the snib handle to prevent your guest from entering until they are prepared. This type handle is also used in interior doors, such as bedrooms, where you might want to restrict access from outside.

In certain situations the snib button can cause problems, especially when you have older locks or doors that are distorted. If the snib switch is accidentally pressed, or by someone who is not familiar with it, the door could shut and lock you out. Usually, you can still get in by knocking on the door's frame or letterbox, but this isn't the best option.

This popular style of handle is typically used for front doors. It offers the benefit of preventing the door handle replacement being opened without a key from the outside if the lock has not been deadlocked. This is accomplished through a 'pad' shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and the lock case to prevent the latch from being withdrawn or the door being opened.

This kind of handle is made for uPVC doors with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle technology. This type of operation requires the lever handle as well as the external pad handle to be mounted within the same lock case. It could be a simple replacement of the current uPVC handle, but it could also require a lock case change or a brand new set to handle furniture.

It consists of two inline handles that move and can be locked with either a key or a thumbturn cylinder inside. A pad handle is an alternative to a lever/lever handle. It is made up of an adjustable or fixed pad that can be used to control the lock. These Fullex handles are sprung lever pads that have a snib that can be activated to hold the latch back.
