World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to determine a gating condition when waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the level of an item. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be capable of causing. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when evaluating the inventory of a vendor.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item level upgrade's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item upgrader mod and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is determined by formulas that determine the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor which determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the region the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item level upgrade. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item with specific stats or reroll the affixes. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players the possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game and is thus more beneficial in early game runs than later ones as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances that increase with each level of the item. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by five percent. These items can be purchased at the store or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
