What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader is an additional widget at the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no benefit in terms of gameplay other than making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Some items have an inherent boo that is less useful when upgraded, such as the Goldwrap which provides more slots for potion. These are usually upgraded to add more value to a nearly perfect item.

Costs

There are some costs that are associated with upgrades to items. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. The cost for this upgrade can be costly and depends on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives. It can also be expensive to upgrade an item upgrade to a better tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the price of the materials required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable through completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these materials needed can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it can take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated based on the new ilvl of the item, perks, and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other important stats. In some instances, an upgrade can grant additional benefits. These perks are offered on a list.

In rare cases the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing perks. The upgrader can also make other adjustments to the item, like changing its weapon damage type, or adding or removing an operative or unwieldy feature. These modifications are based on the item's ilvl, and may require special materials, like the adamantine.

Success Rate

The upgrading of an item is based on chance. Like any random system, there is a possibility that it will not succeed. However, there are a few things that can help to increase the chances of success. This includes using an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of extra materials to your upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity can be purchased through the NPC for crafting in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of a successful upgrade by some percentage. It is similar to the "luck bonus" that some items provide, but it is more reliable. This can be added to any weapons or armor and can be used three times.

It is also possible to add a range of additional elements to the upgrade, which increases its chance of success. These are displayed in a separate window, above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.

Another way to increase the chance of an upgrade achieving success is to use an item upgrades known as a Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item can be useful if your weapon or piece is close to or has reached the top level of its tier. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next level without the risk of it breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful the system will be restored to its initial state. This is typically a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. Save an upgrade until you reach the maximum level of an item upgrader mod.
