What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader is an additional widget at the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. This Manager costs 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no other benefit to the game, aside from making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosters

There are a myriad of enhancements that can be obtained with an upgrader. They can include a range of stats, as well as many additional bonuses. Some items have an inherent boo that is less beneficial when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap which gives extra potion slots. These are usually upgraded to add value to a close-to-perfect or perfect item.

Costs

There are some costs related to upgrades of items. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. This cost depends on the new level of the item and the number of perks it will gain, and can be expensive. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.

The second is the cost of the materials required to upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing certain Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these materials required is available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. Based on the magnitude of the upgrade, it can take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The base stats of an upgraded item are calculated based on the new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, as well as other important statistics. In some instances the upgrade will provide additional perks that can be selected from a list of advantages.

Rarely, the new perks obtained will cost more than one perk slot to acquire; in these situations, the upgrade will only replace the highest-cost perks. A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof, can be used to boost the chances of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful when you own an item of gear that has reached the maximum level for its tier or is close to it. This item will allow you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without the risk of it breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful the system will be returned to its original condition. This is usually a break, but could also be an upgrade. You should save an upgrade until you're close to the highest level for an item.

There are a variety of items available in the Kafra shop that can be used to increase the odds of an upgrade succeeding. You can increase the chances of success by upgrading your equipment several times using HD Oridecon and HD Elunium. The chance of success will be enhanced if you boost your chances of receiving a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.

Failure Rate

The upgrader of an item allows players to add an additional card slot into their equipment. These slots can be used to apply an enchantment or upgrade an item.
