WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item Upgrader kit upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader kit upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from a different set of equipment.

Crests

For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade item their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots.
