UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles match the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary window handle upvc that can be used on new or replacement doors. This style door handle is available in a wide range of styles & finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are suitable for multi point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings, so they can be easily incorporated into existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The design of the sprung lever allows the window handle upvc to be set and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever can be used on doors that have a latch that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double glazed front door handles glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm permit a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of the horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be called 'handle centre' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right handles.

After you have identified the correct PZ size, you will need to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions which allows them to be put on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of doors. Cylinder locks are operated by using a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, and permit them to rotate the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for example, should be fitted with higher security cylinders while internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. It is important to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most modern cylinders are designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This helps prevent attacks and protect your doors.

There are cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than opening multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of your door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. The addition of this simple element is among the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specially designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You will require a custom hole cut into the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with an elongated square that accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes offer an excellent value solution for the problem of door handles that have become sagging.
