3 Wheeler Buggies

There are a myriad of alternatives for seating options in 3 wheelers. The seats don't fully recline, but they can be adjusted to the lowest point. This should still give your child plenty of headroom and space.

A sling seat made of cloth is also available. It has the advantage of being placed snugly within the frame instead of on top like the modular seat. This gives a lower centre of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it much easier and lighter to push especially over bumpy terrain or curbs and MFM reviewer Kath loved the way this type of seat dealt with these challenges.

Stores

The 3-wheeled frame is more stable and can be pushed with just one hand. It's also more suitable for terrains that are difficult to navigate. However, it does mean that the shopping basket can't hold the same amount as a 4-wheeled buggy.

A top-quality ATP will come with pneumatic tyres, a padded grip for added comfort, and a superb suspension. It should be able to accommodate a carrycot or a car seat, which means you can use it from birth.

MFM's reviewers found that the 3-wheeler frames couldn't pass through their doors at home or car boot. If you're concerned about space, be sure you check the dimensions when the buggy is folded before buying.

Tyres

Air filled tyres are designed to provide your child with a more comfortable ride by cushioning out bumps and uneven surfaces. She also noted that the grippy tyres on it made it easy to navigate cobbles and kerbs.

These tyres can be difficult to maintain and will require having their air pressure topped up regularly. They are also more susceptible to punctures than foam tyres so it is essential that you have repair kits along with a spare inner tube and pump on hand when you are out and about with your buggy.

PU tyres are typically used on pushchairs because they are a cheaper option than air-filled tyres but are just as durable. PU tires are easily distinguished by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide well on uneven and tied surfaces.

If you rub your hands over the tyres, you can tell if they're rubber or PU. If it feels like it's moving, then it's a PU. You can also verify that your buggy is fitted with PU tyres simply by sliding the tyres over a clean, flat surface They'll be able to roll easily and fit snugly into their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres are often used in high-performance buggies and Joggers due to their ability to deal with the rough terrain common to this type of double pushchair 3 wheeler. The drawback is that the foam can compress and make your buggy feel less stable, as it loses its springy nature. Also, these tyres may typically be noisy because they create lots of noise when you turn and make your way through town.
