Saab Key Programming

Saab cars that were built prior to 1994 have an immobilizer feature built on coded keys. A new transponder is required for the inclusion of an additional key, and special programming. This is usually done at the dealer with a specialized Tech2 diagnostic tool.

This can be expensive. This is why you should always have a spare key on hand.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a key equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal back to the car when it is inserted into the ignition. The car then checks to see whether the signal matches with the one on the key. If the signals match it will open and start. This is an excellent way to guard your car against theft.

Transponder keys are a common feature in automobiles, but you must be aware that they're not as secure as classic keys made of metal. While the metal portion of a traditional key can be cut and copied however, a transponder is secured by an electronic chip. This chip has an individual code that is embedded into the car's computer to identify it.

When a Saab key fob is used the car recognizes it and allows it to turn on. However, it can only do so if the key fob is unmodified and has a chip that has been programmed to match. If not, the car will reject the key and refuse to start.

The next step is to connect the wires for the column and row to the microcontroller. This is the most laborious aspect of the project and it will require lots of soldering. There's no standard way to do this, but it is essential to determine the route you'll take and solder the rows and columns. There are 22 microcontroller wires as well as pins to connect to this keyboard. It has five rows and 17 column.

Once the rows and columns are soldered, it's the time to connect them to the key switches. To do this, place an inverter over each key switch pin and solder it. This will shield the pins from current, and prevent them from being shorted. Jump-starting the battery

The majority of people have a set of jumper cables in their trunks for emergencies, but jumping a battery on modern vehicles might not be the most efficient option.
